Under-the-radar artisanal designer Ryo Kashiwazaki and creator of Japanese label Hender Scheme is launching a multi-season limited custom collaboration with Adidas Originals. Consider yourself lucky if you get to cop a pair – only 900 of the high-quality leather kicks are being assembled entirely by hand with love. The sneakers will bear Adidas branding but otherwise will look Hender Scheme unmistakably.
Kashiwazaki says, ‘We are making these shoes our way, so we can only make so many. But we also love sneakers, and what Adidas does differently, like manual versus industrial products. So maybe we can find a way in the future where these methods can work together.’
In addition to sneakers, Hender Scheme makes footwear, bags and household goods, all out of leather and all in the same artisanal spirit.
