It’s always a great situation when you can enjoy good fashion and give back to a good cause at the same time. That’s the exact case with the new collab between NYC heritage eyewear brand MOSCOT and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, the co-founder of legendary Hip-Hop group, The Roots. For those of you who know your Hip-Hop history, you can certainly agree that it’s been impressive to witness the evolution of the band over the years. From early ROOTS albums in their catalog like Do You Want More?!!!??! and Illadelph Halflife to their current gig with Jimmy Fallon, they’ve definitely made the transition from the hood to Hollywood in a major way.
However, back to the frames. The Moscot X Tariq Trotter collab utilizes the authentic GRUNYA frame by MOSCOT and it was made in a Limited Edition amount of 300 pieces. The frames feature a Black Tortoise finish and they are gold-stamped with Black Thought’s signature. 100% of the proceeds from the sales will be donated to Black Thought’s GrassROOTS Community foundation and The Moscot Mobileyes Foundation. The former promotes health initiatives within inner-city neighborhoods and the latter provides free eyecare services to charities in NYC.
There will also be a exclusive live show on Feb 12th 2015 at the MOSCOT Gallery and Music Space to officially debut the limited edition sunglasses on stage and raise additional money for both charities. To pre-order these sunglasses, you can head over to: www.TariqTrotterMOSCOT.com
