Announced earlier this month, the Kendrick Lamar x Nike collaboration drops now and we’ve got a closer look at the style.
Three times is a charmed as this is Kendrick’s installment with the brand – Paying homage to L.A.’s Street Culture that made the Cortez Nike’s Most Authentic Sneaker. “That’s our Air Force 1,” says Isack Fadlon, owner of Sportie L.A. a popular Cali sneaker store that has continuously sold the Cortez for the past three decades. “From day one the sneaker has been so ingrained in L.A. culture. It literally is the persona of L.A. and our West Coast style. Going into our store is like a museum, you can see everything from the original white and red to the newest versions.” Another addition to his inventory now includes The Cortez Basic Slip, is low-top trainers are very obviously designed for the purposes of casual use.
Featuring an oversized puffer tongue, a drawstring heel clasp and the words “HOUSE SHOES” on the tongue, the silhouette’s lighter colors are contrasted by the Swoosh branding on the sides.
