Sneakers have long been a staple in a man’s shoe collection. From kids, to yuppies, to even retirees, this type of footwear represents an easy-going lifestyle and screams comfort on every level. Out of all the brands on the market, one of them stands out for being a true blue icon in the industry, a versatile essential on a guy’s shoe rack.

“When it comes to providing comfort, functionality, and style, Converse sneakers have truly come a long way. Add that to the fact that the brand promotes social awareness …”

Based on the history page of Chuck’s Connection, Converse All Stars was primarily used as an elite shoe for a professional yet small basketball league in the early 1900s. A handful of years later, when the company took American player Chuck Taylor under their wing, drastic changes were made in terms of its design and purpose. During that era, Taylor was simultaneously facilitating basketball camps in the US, as well as selling shoes and contributing ideas to the company. In fact, that classic circular patch on the side was his brainchild; this was in order to protect the athlete’s ankle. Fast-forward to today, Converse still holds a timeless aesthetic and is still one of the most beloved type of sneakers in the world.

As a proof of its worldwide popularity, in Australia – and some other parts in nearby tropical regions – Converse Chucks are closely associated with sneakerheads. Since the majority of these countries feature a hotter, more humid climate, styles generally lean toward boat shoes, espadrilles, and flip-flops; designs that Australian e-commerce platform, Lyst describes as ideal summer footwear. Converse (or sneakers in general) also fall under this category because of an avant-garde quality that blurs the lines of fad and function. Today, it continues to set new trends while embracing old ones with the launch of the 2016 Converse Pride Collection.

Inspired by the LGBT (or the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community, the 2016 Converse Pride Collection showcases three vibrant Chuck Taylor designs. The style acts as a fervent notice for universal acceptance, variety, and most importantly equality. It fosters authenticity by encouraging the general public to stay true to who they are. This recently launched design is available on the classic Converse Chuck Taylor canvas hi’s and ox silhouettes. In addition, a special collection highlights a premium woven upper in bright rainbow colors complemented by a multi-colored license plate and aglets.

When it comes to providing comfort, functionality, and style, Converse sneakers have truly come a long way. Add that to the fact that the brand promotes social awareness and fairness, and sneakerheads have shoes that represent a greater, more meaningful cause.
