Last Friday (03/24), Hip-Hop producer extraordinaire, Mike Will Made It, dropped his highly anticipated Ransom 2 compilation album. That’s a loaded opening sentence for most, because he’s also the same producer behind some of most popular (albeit annoying) pop acts in recent years (Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Rae Sremmurd etc). But to measure his sonic accomplishments just by his shallow radio offerings would be a big mistake. You’ll do well to remember that he is also the same beatsmith behind formidable street bangers for Gucci Mane, and addictive trunk rattlers like Good Music’s, “Mercy.”With
With his most recent album, the southern producer shows that his repetoire includes much more than bass-heavy trap beats. One could even go as far as saying that he tackled the project with the dexterity of a modern day Quincy Jones. The album is a star-studded affair featuring hip-hop giants like Kendrick Lamar, Future, Pharrell, Gucci Mane and many more. The beats show range and incredible depth, and the arrangement and pacing of the album is top-notch. Highlights include the smooth opener, “On the Come Up” feat. Big Sean, “Prefect Pint” featuring K-dot & Gucci, and “Razzle Dazzle” featuring Future. Check the album out for yourself, and in the meantime, peep the video for the Sean Don heat rock below:
