The Cloisters museum located in Upper Manhattan is a hidden gem that most NYC denizens have no idea about. It’s located in Fort Tyron Park in the Washington Heights area and it’s just a short subway ride on the A train from Time Square or 34th street. It’s a breathtaking scene with lush and expertly maintained park grounds overlooking the Hudson River. The architecture is stunning too – it boasts ancient European abbeys that were broken down, shipped to NYC and rebuilt between 1934-39.
This textured and historical context presents the perfect backdrop for the new A/W 2015 prelude editorial from one of our favorite NYC menswear brands Abasi Rosborough. The editorial is titled “Redemption,” and as usual, we see that the competing elements of function and fashion are very much at play. Also the layering techniques and futuristic silhouettes create an overall look that can only be described as fresh and progressive.
Everything is kept in-house here with the execution of these images. Abdul Abasi provides the dynamic photography and the other half of the duo, Greg Rosborough styled the shoot. There’s something so original and cerebral about these shots that we really like. If a noble Ronin warrior from far in the future was somehow transposed back to our times, this is how he would look.
