Aleftina F/W 2014
Written by: Kwesi Adjin

Aleftina is a menswear label that hails from Germany named after its talented designer. There is very little information on this designer but based on what she created for the label’s F/W 2014 collection, we have a feeling there will soon be a lot more information about her.  The scenery, models and poses used to express the collection are dark, otherworldly and very artistic.  The clothes drape beautifully (and sometimes awkwardly), are snake skin-like shiny, sometimes metallic, and very modern.   It is clear that Aleftina knows the fashion rules because the clothes are wearable (somewhere in outer space) but ignores them to make a statement that we interpret as “life is what you want it to be”.  The collection labeled “Asphalt” is just pure freedom in gear.  The collection is aptly named because there is a sense of grit and direction in the garments and designs.  We found out that Aleftina, the designer, was a fashion student and Illustrator at Lette Verein (a vocational school for design) where she graduated in 2014 and is currently based in Berlin.
