David Hart is no stranger to Style.No.Chaser. In the current realm of American menswear, we think he’s one of the most focused, directional and creative minds. In a short time, he has established himself as a maker of cool modern suiting with retro sensibilities, unique textures, prints, colors and patterns. During NYFW, Hart showed off his new collection for Spring 2015 in a presentation at Industria, and we were on hand to take it in.
For the coming Spring season, we see the NYC-based designer feeling more whimsical and playful than ever before. The inspiration for the collection was the leisure and elegance of bygone days of Palm Springs, California. Even being in the presence of the clothes evoked images of majestic palm trees, scenic resorts with beckoning swimming pools and picturesque desert vistas that stretch as far as the eye can see.
The backbone of the collection featured a variety of suiting in an array of unusal colors (purples, dusty roses, slates, rusty reds), but there were some really bold separate thrown into the mix. There were silk camp shirts, bold button-front polos (with a very retro feel) and show-stealing, all-over print trousers. Some of the major standout looks included a sharp double-breasted shorts suit and an electric violet-hued tuxedo with a very dapper shawl collar.
