It’s a testament to a shoe’s design and staying power when it keeps coming back in a new iteration every five years. That’s the exact case with the M1300 sneaker from New Balance. It was originally released in 1985 as a technical running shoe and it was an instant hit with athletes all over the world. The original version had ENCAP technology which gave the shoe maximum cushioning and stability. It also became an unexpected lifestyle “hit” with fashion-minded consumers all over the world – most notably in Japan. Additionally, the fact that it had a price tag of over $100 easily made it classifiable as a premium sneaker.
So in 2015, the latest version of the M1300 will soon be rolled out. It’s officially named the M1300JP2 and it features superior craftsmanship, a Vibram sole and molded midsoles. It is manufactured right here in the USA, and will be available for $300 beginning March 28th.
The legacy of a legendary shoe continues to unfold and it’s not too late to experience this sneaker story for yourself.
