As far as Hollywood actors go, Joaquin Phoenix is one of the top-tier thespians currently plying his trade. The distinguishing feature about Phoenix is how he’s able to completely throw himself into a role and deliver emotions so raw, visceral and amazingly nuanced.
His newest movie (releasing April 6th) is based on a book by Jonathan Ames. It’s titled You Were Never Really Here, and it’s about a traumatized veteran who is capable of great violence, and he just happens to track down missing girls for a living. When one of his assignments spins out of control, his tortured past comes back to haunt him and a virtual Pandora’s Box of horrors are unleashed. See the gripping trailer below:
