A small group of ultra-niche high-end designers over the past few years have carved out a niche utilizing intricate, artisanal production techniques with a thing for ‘all black everything’ has gradually risen to prominence in fashion circles. The brands in this group include Carol Christian Poell, Boris Bidjan Saberi, Guidi, A1923, Label Under Construction, and Ma+ (you say it “M-A-cross”), and now joining that movement is upcoming designer Leon Emanuel Blanck with his latest Fall/Winter 2018 drop. Inspired by dystopian sci-fi motifs, each piece features Interesting textures and fabrics — including raw, primitive leathers — further accentuate Blanck’s sculptural, abstract approach to clothing design. This season Blanck further expands on his avant-garde luxury collection, meticulously crafted and not shy about using such materials as: alpaca wools, cashmere blends, mink and pony hair, horse leathers, resin treated corduroys, and waxed heavy cottons.
