Mark Anthony Green is setting himself up to be quite the modern day renaissance man. Known mostly for his day job as an editor at GQ magazine, Green is now spreading his wings into the world of art. His debut art presentation opened this past weekend (03/09) at Damon Dash’s Poppington Gallery in downtown NYC.
His art primarily consists of short and witty plays on words and phrases captured on heavy-weight cotton canvas with hand/machine stitched lettering. The exhibition was quite robust and occupied two floors of the tri-level Orchard street gallery.
The turn-out was extremely impressive. A sampling of well-known faces on hand included: Dame Dash (naturally), Victor Cruz, Mark McNairy, Ronnie Fieg, Michael K. Williams, Curt@in$, Jim Jones, Cam’ron and GQ’s Michael Hainey.
Enjoy the shots taken by Ben Ferrari in the slideshow above – and do remember, the exhibition goes on at Poppington Gallery (60 Orchard Street) till March 24th.
