Los Angeles, CA based design lab Matiere (French word for material) is coming bullocks-to-the-wall for the Fall/Winter 2017 season. Guided by the many faces of different fabric, the co-founders of the brand Scot Shandalove and Henry Choi make it a point to rip all preconceived notions to shreds and deliver refined newness with a wily smirk. The Fall/Winter 2017 season boldly and unapologetically takes inspiration from the “unfiltered energy of punk rock”. The collection features fiber combinations, washes and silhouettes that were birthed by the punk rock era in 1970s London. Japanese wools and dye techniques as well as technologically enhanced material join in holy matrimony to form a collection that is both sensuous and functional. This collection is not in the least an inch deep and a mile wide, contrarily, it is immersive and engulfing in the best sense. Bravo Matiere, Bravo!
