Founded in 2007, NŌN by KIM is a brand founded by Dutch designer Kim Bakker with a goal of redefining men’s closets.  All traditional menswear concepts are open game for disruption when it comes to NŌN by KIM’s collections.  Kim Bakker has a deep fascination with abstraction which guides many of her exploits into the re-imagining of what men’s clothes should look like. Kim is a stickler for perfection and pays close attention to fabrics, finishes, shapes and silhouettes.  Her color pallets are usually subdued and she makes sure each new collection is a coherent part of previous collections.

NŌN by KIM’s FW 14/15 Collection is the 7th collection from the brand and is entitled Zero.  Zero is all about new beginnings and this concept allowed Kim to experiment with empty spaces and cutouts leaving very interesting forms.  Kim traced the origins of the number zero (0) back to Mayan culture where an ovoid shell represented zero.  Kim states that research into the intelligent tribe resulted in rounded silhouettes; full on top and tapered at the bottom, sculpted in soft but sturdy fabrics. Muted shades of grays and blues make up this very sleek collection.  Key parts of the collection can be seen below.
