SNC Approved: The Monitaly Mountain Parka
Written by: Staff

At Style.No.Chaser, we are not the biggest fans of things that are absolutely on-trend. That requires no effort at all. We’d rather be ahead of the curve or focus on items that have perennial staying power. Regarding the latter, we have a special penchant for vintage items that age like fine wine and become prized possessions in your closet. The military parka below from Monitaly is one of those special pieces. Designed by Yuki Matsuda, this one-of-a-kind menswear specimen is crafted from a single vintage US Army shelter tent from the 1950’s.

It features raglan sleeves and shoulder pleats, and it has a chest pocket that is both welted and zippered. It also happens to be an all-season coat due to its unlined torso. The sleeves also have a thin viscose lining increasing the overall comfort level of this garment.

Other noticeable details on this Mountain Parka are:

– A tailored silhouette

– Original Tent hardware used for the trimmings

– Leather drawcord on the hood

– Twin pleated hip pockets with button closure.

The Monitaly Tent Fabric Mountain Parka retails for $575, and can be found at Oakland retailer Standard & Strange or on their website here.
