Each year, Art Basel takes over the 305 with art and design exhibits, panels, and parties. Miami Beach has become the Swiss-born expoβs most rambunctious edition thanks to the celebrities in attendance, the money dropped on artworks, and the over-the-top parties at practically every hotel and yacht from South Beach to Little Haiti.

2. FOR THE CULTURE
Black Art Matters: It’s not a choice, the 2018 edition of TheUrbanCollective’s Art Africa Miami Arts Fair, explores how Black art has always been and still is about an intellectual, political and artistic counterargument to the modern day.
Black Art Matters: It’s not a choice, the 2018 edition of TheUrbanCollective’s Art Africa Miami Arts Fair, explores how Black art has always been and still is about an intellectual, political and artistic counterargument to the modern day. It explores the current condition of Black people, a people who have constantly struggled to be treated as human. This conversation, which includes literary history, history of art and the history of ideas, unveils how history contemporaneously accommodates itself in the midst of oppression. Moreover, it reveals how Black proclamations of emancipation, independence, liberation and revolution are active responses to the constant degradation and domination of the world by Western hegemonic power; a world where Black people are often considered sub-human. . Photo Depiction: Yoruba maternity figure (origin: Southwestern Nigeria; circa: 1600 AD to 1700 AD). This figure depicts a kneeling woman with outstretched hands, she is nursing a crossed pair of twins who are supporting themselves with their feet on her hands. It is possible, given that she is cradling twins, that she is Orisa Ibeji, the protector of twins. In Yoruba mythology, she was linked to Shango, the god of thunder, and would punish erring parents as well as protecting the spirits of twins whose sibling had died. . . . . . #art #blackart #blackartists #contemporaryart #artbaselmiami #miamiartweek #artlovers #artcollectors #somiami #dontmissout #miamiartscene #miami #historicovertown #africandiasporaart #africandiasporaartists #contemporaryart #artist #artbasel #backtoblack #africandiaspora #artofblackmiami #multiculturalmiami #theurbancollective #soulbasel #artafricamiami

3. EATS
Despite many misconceptions, Ethiopia is one of Africaβs most fertile countries, boasting a rich cuisine and a long, proud history stretching far back to the time of the earliest humans. Its strong cultural heritage is reflected in the food, which is wonderfully diverse, full of color and flavor, as well as containing many important health benefits we could all learn from and apply to our own diets.
