Sven Marquardt: Berlin Art On Lafayette Street
Written by: Staff

Berlin-inspired art merged with NYC fashion at the opening of “Photographs BERLIN by Sven Marquardt, a collection of works by famed photographer and nightclub curator, Sven Marquardt on September 15th. Presented by LIEBESKIND Berlin at its flagship store in Soho, the event welcomed over 170 spectators who enjoyed Marquardt’s provocative black and white photos, which draped the walls of the industrial-style boutique – reminiscent of Berlin’s famed Berghain nightclub where Marquardt is a staple. German-inspired cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served, while DJ Eli Escobarprovided base-heavy nightclub anthems throughout the evening.

“Marquardt’s work is provocative, stark and infused with Berlin edginess …

The man of the hour was in attendance, along with musical artist, Jesse Boykins III, supermodel and Holland’s Next Top Model’s own,Marianna Verkerk and The Face contestant, Sharon Gallardo. Much like LIEBESKIND Berlin itself, Marquardt’s work is creative with a hint of simplicity and a whole lot of Berlin-infused edginess. As a curator of the night, Marquardt alone chooses who is in and who is out. With this knowledge of beauty and unrefined splendor, Marquardt takes his discerning eye behind the camera. The result of his mastery of aesthetics is as breathtaking as it is matchless. Marquardt will be at the exhibition for those who wish to meet the impresario.

“Photographs BERLIN by Sven Marquardt,” is currently on display at the LIEBESKIND Berlin flagship store (276 Lafayette Street) through October 31, 2014.
