The lookbook for Wtaps’ Fall/Winter 2019 collection is a sort of blue color excursion into the mind of founder Tesu Nishiyama. The Japanese always do things better – they are cleaner, more respectful, gracious and have an uncanny knack to tap into the general essence of anything – especially clothes. The collection which offers a wide range of gear including pants, hats, jackets, luggage, etc. has a military and fireman aesthetic to it that is both traditional and unconventional. The dimensions of the clothes are bulky – a welcome break because these days it is fair to say we all need a little more room. There is a tangible direction to the collection which we applaud because it’s always better to go an inch wide and mile deep rather than the opposite.
